Our waters

Six stretches of the River Severn in and around Shrewsbury, from Shelton above the town downstream to Preston Boats, plus Lords Pool south of the town. Choose a water for access, parking and the species it holds.

Club waters

  1. ASheltonA sweeping inside bend of the River Severn, upstream of Shrewsbury.
  2. BThe AlbrightonA straight run of gravel and streamer weed on the River Severn in Shrewsbury, below Sydney Avenue.
  3. CThe RoyceBrookey's Hole, The Daisybank and The Bay, on the River Severn from Telford Way down to the Coracle.
  4. DPimley RoughFrom the Coracle pub to the sewage works on the River Severn in Shrewsbury. Prolific for barbel and chub.
  5. EPimley ManorDouble-figure barbel, six-pound chub, pike and perch on the River Severn. One of the most popular in Shrewsbury.
  6. FPreston BoatsBedrock runs, steady glides and an island. The club's barbel and pike records came from here.
  7. GLords PoolA still water south of Shrewsbury. Carp into double figures, tench, bream, roach, rudd and perch. Book before you fish.

  1. 2025 AGM Minutes

    Members voted unanimously to keep all committee officers in place for another year, and to cut the annual subscription from £40 to £35.

  2. 2024 AGM Minutes

    Lee McGowan became Chairman and Secretary, Dale Dulson Head Bailiff, and the fee rose from £35 to £40 for 2025/26.

Run by anglers, for anglers

Shrewsbury Anglers Club was set up in 2016 by a group of local anglers to give members a democratic, open club where everyone shares responsibility for the fisheries. It holds six stretches of the River Severn in and around Shrewsbury, and Lords Pool, a still water south of the town. Members vote on fees and officers at the AGM and keep the banks in order at work parties.

There are no day tickets. Membership is £35 a year, limited to 275 places, and a member can bring a guest with a permit from the Secretary.

Members can also fish the Peterborough & District Angling Association waters at no extra cost, through our share scheme.
